65 Paris, 16th arrondissement, Saint Pierre de Chaillot and the street art

This church is just down the road from the Arc  de Triomphe. On my first visit there were some parts of the church I was not able to visit because a religious service – a mass in Italian in fact – started up. The church, as so many, is being renovated, and on the wooden barriers put up to protect the works, they have commissioned a street artist to do a couple of pieces on Saint Peter. It is extremely rare to have street art in religious themes, so I liked that . The church was opened in 1938, so it is a modern church, and has some great pillars and stuff.

Marcel Proust the cake lover had his funeral here, as did Maupassant, a fine novella writer from the 19th century.  And there is an organ festival every two years.

On my second visit ( with a phone which takes better photos) I was able to photograph the rest of the place.
