38 Clermont Ferrand - Cathedral of Our Lady of the Assumption

Image
I have family in Clermont, so I have been there at least once a year for the last 25 years, so it's a pleasure to add the cathedral to this blog. In local volcanic blackish stone, it is at the top of a slope which gives rise to some great views as you approach it. Huge spaces under the arches, and a very cute modern stations of the cross. The  stained glass has intricate patterns which I liked. Information in English Information in French Information in Estonian

Apparently there is also the  18th century encyclopedist Diderot, but I missed him! The Stations of the Cross, in relief, are quite unusual and impressive, too.
