190 London, Westminster Cathedral (aka Cathedral of the Most Precious Blood) I was brought up a Catholic in the North of England, and we were always told that all the old cathedrals in the country were really ours, but had been nicked by the protestants when the Reformation happened. Catholic cathedrals are rare in Britain. Once Catholicism came to be tolerated again by the establishment, and then fully legalized in the 19th century, Catholics started building cathedrals. In the twentieth century Liverpool RC cathedral was a well-known example. But in London, Westminster Cathedral (aka Cathedral of the Most Precious Blood) was opened already in 1903. It is in the neo-Byzantine style. A bunch of mosaics were completed in 1912-1916, many by people from the Arts and Crafts movement, like Gertrude Martin and Robert Anning Bell.
