5 Paris 11th arrondissement Eglise Notre Dame de l'espérance

This time a modern neighbourhood church, near the Place de la Bastille, among the restaurants of the Rue de la Roquette. Established in order to re-evangelize the working class population of the area, the original church structure became dangerous and was replaced by the modern church. Among the photographs you will find a declaration about sexual abuse in the Church around the world. The cheap hotel opposite advertises "rooms to rent by the month or by the day". 4 Paris 1er arrondissement Eglise Saint Eustache

Another link with the food market - some of the chapels were funded by trade groups. This is the pork-butchers' chapel, for example. It goes back a long way. A painting of the figure of temperance The church is not very long, but it is very high indeed. Politician Colbert was buried here in the 17th century. These days a controversial figure. He waas heavily involved in the organization of slavery, and as a result there have been successful campaigns to change the names of some of the schools etc named after him.
