For the longest time, this was the parish church for the huge wholesale food market next door: hence this sculpture in the church.


Another link with the food market - some of the chapels were funded by trade groups. This is the pork-butchers' chapel, for example. It goes back a long way.

The church is not very long, but it is very high indeed.

Politician Colbert was buried here in the 17th century. These days a controversial figure. He waas heavily involved in the organization of slavery, and as a result there have been successful campaigns to change the names of some of the schools etc named after him. Nevertheless there are still many streets bearing his name.
