34 Ottawa : Notre Dame Cathedral/ Cathédrale Notre Dame

This is the Roman Catholic cathedral, built in the 19th century. I really liked this church in particular from the outside - it stands just across from the modern art museum. Inside, there are ornate marbly pillars and a painted ceiling - what's not to like? This church also has the prettiest lectern I have seen all year. You will see on the noticeboard, as this is Ottawa, absolutely everything is in two languages. In France, stop signs say « Stop ». In Ottawa, they say « Stop - Arrêt ». Smart thinking I reckon.
