100 Churches in Paris and elsewhere

This time a modern neighbourhood church, near the Place de la Bastille, among the restaurants of the Rue de la Roquette. Established in order to re-evangelize the working class population of the area, the original church structure became dangerous and was replaced by the modern church. Another link with the food market - some of the chapels were funded by trade groups. This is the pork-butchers' chapel, for example. It goes back a long way. He waas heavily involved in the organization of slavery, and as a result there have been successful campaigns to change the names of some of the schools etc named after him.
