85 : Reykjavik,
Iceland, Christ the King cathedral. Calvary can be fun.
This is the Catholic
cathedral in Reykjavik, not to be confused with the Lutheran cathedral, which
is not to be confused with the biggest church in Reykjavik, up on a hill and
triangular. Samuelsson was the architect , and it was consecrated in the late
1920s. Samuelsson was trying to create a distinct Icelandic architecture :
hence interesting tower. I liked the Stations of the Cross, though Jesus does seem
to be quite enjoying himself.
The Catholics in Reykjavik
are fairly active, and of course there is mass in Spanish once a week. There has to be an interesting story behind that .
