42 London UK, Saint Pancras New Church
You feel like you're in Athens.
This one is dedicated to one of those pioneer martyrs what got done in before Constantine did the cool "let's recognize Christianity" thingy, for complicated reasons. Some lovely marble and a fabulous pulpit. Built in the 19th century, based on a chunk of the Acropolis. Saint Pancras Old Church is just up the road, and bits of it go back to the 11th century. The church noticeboard claims that they go in for "open-minded Christian teaching". This contrasts a little with the original Greek inscription, which translates, I am told, "May the light of the blessed Gospel thus ever illuminate the dark temples of the Heathen". The church hosts the London Festival of contemporary Church Music.
